Beyond 42.195 Kilometers

*** Time Period: January 2012 to September 2012 ***

Hiatus

Wow! It’s been almost nine (9) months since I last posted a blog! Maybe I’m just too busy with work and family stuff or maybe I’m just too lazy to write. It’s just amazing because GOD has been faithful and very good to us. HE always is and HE always will be. Only GOD has the perfect plans for us — plans to prosper us and not to harm us, plans to give us hope and a bright future (Jeremiah 29:11).

Eight Is Great

Since finishing my first marathon distance last January, I managed to join eight (8) other running events. Some of the highlights are the following:

Jan 22 2012. Unity Run Cebu 10K — My first-ever 10K race. Finished in 52 mins 13 secs.

Mar 11 2012. COC-Phinma Alumni Fun Run 10K — Held in Cagayan de Oro City, my first time to run in a race outside of Cebu. Finished in 52 mins 56 secs.

Mar 18 2012. The G.O.O.D. Run 21K — Paced my good friend Lordwin on his half marathon debut. Finished in 2 hrs 24 mins 53 secs.

Apr 15 2012. Run for BB4 Easter Bunny Run 21K — Finished in 2 hrs 1 min 58 secs.

Jun 10 2012. 2nd Run UP High 6K — Finished in 31 mins 37 secs, which is good for 9th place overall.

Jul 29 2012. Compostela Dream Run 10K — Paced my wife Espie on her very first 10K event. Finished in 1 hr 33 mins 42 secs.

Aug 19 2012. 7th University Run 25K — Finished in 3 hrs 5 mins 47 secs.

Aug 26 2012. Y101 Armscor Run 21K — Finished in 2 hrs 1 min 47 secs, my fastest half marathon time so far.

I treated all these races as part of my training for my first attempt at running beyond 42.195 kilometers. No, I’m not consistent with my preparation. In fact, my running mileage have been up and down. But just like CCM2012, it’s still “Ready or not, ultra-marathon here I come!”.

The Warrior 50 Ultramarathon

With 3 more days to go, I’m in an energy state higher than my normal! It feels great to be healthy and (fit?)! It feels great to have the chance to attempt at something I can’t even imagine trying a couple of years ago! It feels great to be loved and supported by my wife Espie and my family! It feels great to be part of G6 Runners, and I’ll be wearing our singlet for the first time! It feels great to have encouraging friends in the running community – Ungo, dailymile friends, etc.! Most of all, it feels great to be secured in GOD’s love, provision and protection! See y’all and let’s have fun this Friday midnight!

No. 059 to honor May 9, birthday of my wife Espie, my No.1 fan!
